Trainee Patent Attorney

The Role

You will work and train on-the-job towards full qualification as a patent attorney. You will be provided with all the support and training needed to pass the required examinations while working and gaining experience as a patent attorney in your day-to-day work.

You will gain first-hand experience of patent drafting and applying for patents on behalf of our clients, and you will be involved in protecting ground-breaking technologies within mechanics and machine technology.

You will be joining a team of three experienced patent attorneys working in the same or similar field of technology. Teams at Boco IP are self-directed with no hierarchy, which gives you the opportunity to be involved in the decisions regarding the running of the team and the business from day one.

The Candidate

In order to qualify as a European Patent Attorney, you must have a degree in a relevant technical field. You will therefore have a good bachelor’s, master’s or doctorate degree in a relevant field (e.g. mechanical engineering, electrical/electronic engineering, automation technology, or other suitable field of technology).

Working in an expert role is independent and challenging. A hopeful, efficient, persistent, and optimistic attitude helps succeed in demanding tasks – in other words, as a team member, you should have a lot of psychological capital.

You are a recent or soon-to-be graduate, or someone with the relevant technical background who is looking for a career change.

In addition to your technical skills, you must have an excellent command of both written and spoken English. Fluency in Finnish is advantageous but not required.
